Can video game cheating can be countered, with cleaver programming?
A person which teleports can find an unusual item in the environment where the person appears. That person which flies could meet an aircraft or experience weather difficulties, this could injure a player. Invisibility can be countered by anti-invisibility measures, such as a orange flourescent dye delivered as aerosol particles. Another anti-invisibility measure is a trap which deactivates only when a visible character is detected.
In a game which lacks an accepted power of flight, anti-aircraft devices could create no-fly-zones. Extreme hazards can be introduced to participants which decide to cheat, this would require the methods of cheating would need to be studied by the game-programmers. Any sealed rooms with booby-traps, which deactivate when an approved entry method can occur, such as a bomb.
I would think that most cheating that goes on in games is either going to be done by editting the code of the existing game or they are put there by the programmers. There is instances where you can edit a computer game of yours to defy logic, but you will need to know how to edit the game to do so. This cannot be countered really. If someone wants to edit their games the only ones they are cheating are themselves. Why would you worry about that? This ofcourse can get thrown out the window when it comes to MMOs, but if people need to be pathetic bitches about the game and can only get off when they need to cheat their life doesn't amount to much anyway.
On the flip side the only other cheatting that I can think of is ones that the programmers leave behind. B A B A UP DOWN B A LEFT RIGHT B A START ... i mean ... "god mode" is put into the game by the programmers. If they didn't want to have it there they wouldn't put it in. Someone has to be thinking that someone might want to play with god mode for someone to put it in. If it wasn't there no one would try for it and if no one would try for it it wouldn't be cheating ... see that point?
